Romantic Candlelight Wedding with Neutral Tones
At the intersection of modern, clean and minimalist, you will find Jumi and Layi’s ridiculously beautiful wedding with Gorgeous Human Events and Joseph West Photography. It’s a wedding the bride, Jumi, planned through the inspiration delivered by us – Strictly Weddings! And not to be too biased, but an absolute stunner – largely due in part to the romantic candle filled reception. If we had our way, every wedding would come with a side of sparkle that Jumi delivered. A little dash of glitter coupled with the masculinity of gray gave Jumi all the opportunity she needed to play with light and depth to create a pleasing neutral tone atmosphere she yearned for on her dream day. We are honored to be sharing Jumi and Layi’s story and their wedding planning process who exclaimed that our blog was one of her “absolute favorites while planning her wedding” as it helped her visualize real weddings making the whole process easier. And now, she in turn, brings her wedding to us to help inspire brides-to-be!
Match Making Mom
We weren’t the first to help Jumi though. Her mother played a strong role as the match-maker to her now husband Layi. After attending a friend’s wedding and recuperating the next day, Jumi was nudged to attend church with her mom who covertly set up a first glance opportunity that fateful Sunday followed by a sneaky Facebook connection. Since Jumi has her account settings on privacy lockdown, Layi needed help finding her on the social platform which her mother was more than eager to deliver. After a few back and forth direct messages, Layi asked for Jumi’s phone number and they then talked for six hours. Several years later, he shocked her with a proposal on bended knee in front of 45 of their closest friends at his birthday party she had planned.
Jumi and Layi both share an affinity for modern architecture, clean palettes and minimalist design. They wanted their wedding to reflect their personality as a couple. She began with choosing a mermaid Lazaro gown with jaw-dropping hand beading that dazzled under the lights during her walk down the aisle at the Fellowship of the Woodlands in Texas. Her Bridesmaids wore dresses from the Dessy Collection for the ceremony. For the reception, Jumi wore a custom made Danny Nguyen Couture who also had made her veil. IrieJade Beauty and Alex Jean Beauty gave Jumi a glamorous bridal style with her hair and makeup. Her eyes even complimented her chosen color palette with neutral metallic shine enhanced by gray matte and eyelashes that go on for days.
Minimalist Design Meets Romance
Gorgeous Human Events and Keisha’s Kreations took Jumi’s cue for minimalist design. The reception’s romantic ambience was heightened by the use of 600 candles that filled the room. Tall glass vase floral arrangements bursting in white blooms of roses, hydrangeas and orchids graced each mirror topped table for reflective beauty while gray linens perfectly accented silver chargers. Crisp, contemporary details like geometric ghost chairs where found throughout and we love the added element of the rose buds silhouetted on the drapes and dance floor.
Jumi and Layi’s wedding is an all out modern romance we swoon over every time we look at it.
