Romantic Candlelight Wedding with Neutral Tones

Romantic Candlelight Wedding with Neutral Tones

At the intersection of modern, clean and minimalist, you will find Jumi and Layi’s ridiculously beautiful wedding with Gorgeous Human Events and Joseph West Photography. It’s a wedding the bride, Jumi, planned through the inspiration delivered by us – Strictly Weddings! And not to be too biased, but an absolute stunner – largely due in part to the romantic candle filled reception. If we had our way, every wedding would come with a side of sparkle that Jumi delivered. A little dash of glitter coupled with the masculinity of gray gave Jumi all the opportunity she needed to play with light and depth to create a pleasing neutral tone atmosphere she yearned for on her dream day. We are honored to be sharing Jumi and Layi’s story and their wedding planning process who exclaimed that our blog was one of her “absolute favorites while planning her wedding” as it helped her visualize real weddings making the whole process easier. And now, she in turn, brings her wedding to us to help inspire brides-to-be!

Match Making Mom

We weren’t the first to help Jumi though. Her mother played a strong role as the match-maker to her now husband Layi. After attending a friend’s wedding and recuperating the next day, Jumi was nudged to attend church with her mom who covertly set up a first glance opportunity that fateful Sunday followed by a sneaky Facebook connection. Since Jumi has her account settings on privacy lockdown, Layi needed help finding her on the social platform which her mother was more than eager to deliver. After a few back and forth direct messages, Layi asked for Jumi’s phone number and they then talked for six hours. Several years later, he shocked her with a proposal on bended knee in front of 45 of their closest friends at his birthday party she had planned.

Personalities Reflected

Jumi and Layi both share an affinity for modern architecture, clean palettes and minimalist design. They wanted their wedding to reflect their personality as a couple. She began with choosing a mermaid Lazaro gown with jaw-dropping hand beading that dazzled under the lights during her walk down the aisle at the Fellowship of the Woodlands in Texas. Her Bridesmaids wore dresses from the Dessy Collection for the ceremony. For the reception, Jumi wore a custom made Danny Nguyen Couture who also had made her veil. IrieJade Beauty and Alex Jean Beauty gave Jumi a glamorous bridal style with her hair and makeup. Her eyes even complimented her chosen color palette with neutral metallic shine enhanced by gray matte and eyelashes that go on for days.

Minimalist Design Meets Romance

Gorgeous Human Events and Keisha’s Kreations took Jumi’s cue for minimalist design. The reception’s romantic ambience was heightened by the use of 600 candles that filled the room. Tall glass vase floral arrangements bursting in white blooms of roses, hydrangeas and orchids graced each mirror topped table for reflective beauty while gray linens perfectly accented silver chargers. Crisp, contemporary details like geometric ghost chairs where found throughout and we love the added element of the rose buds silhouetted on the drapes and dance floor.

Jumi and Layi’s wedding is an all out modern romance we swoon over every time we look at it.

Pastel Wedding Colors for a Utopian Summer

18 Feb 2016 Posted by trubridal in Wedding Ideas
Pastel Wedding Colors for a Utopian Summer

Pretty pastel wedding colors surrounded by the greenery of the Holland Marsh Winery give us a taste of a utopian summer dream. Soft hued tones continue to trend on the wedding scene for 2016 thanks to Pantone’s colors of the year: Rose Quartz and Serenity. And let’s be honest, lighter pale colors have a way of becoming the foundation of an utterly romantic ambience every bride swoons over. With this styled shoot, Anya Bortnik of Le Chic Soirée conceived a graceful scene featuring crystal chandeliers, luscious pastel florals and soft, flowing bridal gowns. A charming vision with a contemporary aura captured though the lens of Crystal Hahn Photography.

Pretty in Pastel

The stark white of the Lucite table and vogue chairs from Detailz Couture Event Rentals give the pastels a pop and surrounded by the greens of the winery an outdoor scene begins to take shape. Of course, we love the use of chandeliers in any thing related to wedding! Renaissance Event Rentals and Planning’s are perfectly utilized not only over the tablescape, but the floral arch creating a modern day look that is a bridal favorite. Royal Orchid Florist arrangements burst with pale pink and purple bunches of hydrangeas, roses and large bloomed dahlias. Similar bushels of floral are incorporated into the arch wrapping the wooden structure in rustic glam appeal. Sugar flowers of Cakealicious by Reem on the four-tiered cake are the quintessential touch to tie in the allure of the dessert table with the overall scene.

Fashion Forward Bridal Style

Their bride wears two distinctly different Wedding Dresses by Whyte Couture, each boasting a fashion forward bridal style. The mermaid gown is grand yet elegant with a sexy vibe eminent in the lace corset bodice. The look is graced with the bold bling of Tara Fava Jewellery’s necklace for a polished and unforgettable finish. The second look showcases the floral details on a flowing ball gown. Bespoke Beauty gave the bride a soft and romantic updo accented with fresh floral to heighten the elegance of this bridal style.

Happily Ever After in Coral and Poppy Red

18 Feb 2016 Posted by trubridal in Wedding Ideas

Hot off the runway all the way to the reception, pretty shades of corals and poppy reds are blooming beautifully in everything from bridal party dresses to table décor to flowers. Here are a few ways you can embrace these luscious colors, whether you’re having a more traditional or modern wedding.

Styling the wedding party.

Don’t get too serious or match-matchy. Have fun by playing off of the different hues. If you choose lighter dresses, consider darker accessories (and vice versa) like these parasols and dance-worthy heels. For kissable lips, use a matte lipstick for a more traditional look, or go for the gloss and a little sparkle for a more modern take.

RSVP to a stylish reception.

There are so many ways to make your day even more special with the perfect reception décor. Ditch the white linens and plates and think color, color, color. Not everything has to stay in the coral or poppy red palette, but consider mixing in some neutral colors or greens for a perfectly polished effect–from flowers to candles. Or, take your whimsy all the way with oversized center pieces, shapely glassware and creative seating cards. After all, this is your day, no matter what colors you choose.

Cheers to your special day!

How to guess he is going to propose

18 Feb 2016 Posted by trubridal in Wedding Ideas

The marriage proposal is one of the most incredible and memorable moments in every woman’s life. The engagement is a prelude to the wedding – one of the happiest days for any woman. You have been dating for enough time and for a few weeks you feel he has become more nervous and as if he is making some plans. Find out if this will be a marriage proposal with a beautiful ring.
1. He helps you more than before.
You have noticed that he suddenly is willing to do the dishes or change the sheets instead of you. This is his way to show you he is worth to be a husband, he cares about the home and does the housework together with you.
2. Brags about himself.
He knows you have your career and can take care of yourself, but as most men he wants to be the financial core of the family. This means  to have decent work, salary and no loans. Men instinctively want to take care of their other half so maybe before he asks you to spend your lives together, he may brag about a work well done or a bonus by the boss.
3. Acts as if you just started dating.
Flowers and fancy dinners again? In fact he tries to make sure that when the big moment comes you will say “yes”. According to Cosmopolitan for many men the challenge to propose is very exciting and freshens the relationship.
4. Questions you.
When the time comes to ask “Will you marry me?” he will for sure want this moment to be special and unforgettable for you. This means he will need more information about you – for example what is your favorite place or most pleasant moment of your childhood. He knows very well your friends will ask “How did he propose?” and he wants you to have a great story to tell.
5. He is very nervous.
In the big day he will be very nervous. Even if he is sure you will say “yes” he will be nervous whether everything will go according to plan. If he is terrified from the weather prognosis for the weekend or insists you to order chocolate cake for desert this means you will receive a shiny engagement ring.

High Tea Bridal Shower

We love a fabulous tea here at Trubridal. Not only are they fun but they are chic, delicious and a great way to catch up. To get started reach out to a local party supply rental company to see if you can borrow some amazing mismatched pieces of China. Then order some delicious macaroons and other desserts for the table. Make some simple finger sandwiches and you’re good to go.

Pro Bridesmaid tip: Hit up a few local thrift stores and to grab teacups. Then head to a local florist (you may need to order in advance) to pick up your favorite succulents and moss. Plant for perfect, whimsical DIY gifts for your guests.

Southern Charm Bridal Shower

Pull out the big hats and muddle some mint juleps for a charming bridal shower. Feel free to setup horse shoes outside and make bourbon infused meatballs, biscuits, and pecan pie truffles. Don’t worry about the small details with this sort of party – feel free to mix rustic and glam details for a chic vibe.

Bridesmaid Pro Tip: A great parting gift is a mason jar with a small bottle of Jim Beam, fresh mint and a cute straw or cute gold stir stick.

Preppy Brunch Bridal Shower

We have just one word for your – BRUNCH! Who doesn’t love an amazing brunch?!? While you may feel slightly overwhelmed at the prospect of making a brunch for all your bride’s closest friends, don’t fret! This could be as simple as a build your own parfait bar + bottomless mimosas or as complex as you want to make it. Add a bit of prep with a black and white striped table runner (ala Kate Spade) over a gorgeous hot pink table cloth. Add a few glamorous gold accents and you’re good to go.

Bridesmaid Pro Tip: Order individually wrapped donuts from your favorite donut joint offer them to guests as the favors when they exit.

Breakfast at Tiffany Bridal Shower

What about breakfast at Tiffany? This classic movie and beloved store is one of the most sought after bridal shower themes. Simple to dress for cue chic black shift dress and layers of pearls and give the bride a tiara. Find your favorite Tiffany blue runners and rent china from your local party store. Keep the color palette simple and the Audrey Hepburn quotes and references to a minimum.

Pro Bridesmaid Tip: A simple but fun party favor for a Tiffany Bridal Shower is a tiffany blue bottle of nail polish wrapped in a satin white bow.

French Salon Bridal Shower

Lavender, macaroons, and champagne. We love creating little tasting stations around the party for macaroon and champagne pairings. Find two different flavors and pair them together. It’s a super fun way for the group to mingle and meet new people, without playing games. Also, you have the freedom to incorporate fragrance, flowers and literally anything the bride loves about France.

Pro Bridesmaid tip: Call your local florist to order dried lavender party favors. You can easily break them into smaller bunches for an ultra chic favor. Also steer clear for anything too cliche… say an Eiffel Tower champagne glasses or something of that nature.

Fresh Outdoor Bridal Shower

Enjoy the great outdoors with a light, fun outdoor bridal shower. Break out the chalkboard and setup a few of your favorite yard games – we love a good game croquet or bocce ball. Depending on the vibe you’re going for perfect menu of light fare including crudités and finger sandwiches or good old fashioned BBQ.

Pro Bridesmaid Tip: Add fun little facts about the bride at each croquet post. Also, feel free to mix up the party favors by jarring mini jars of honey with a fun colorful grosgrain ribbon.
